When I close my eyes at night
and my breathing evens out
i see images
images of life
images of love
images of you
I cling to those images
hoping they wont fade
but they always fade
they fade when I wake
they fade when I remember
that look in your eyes
the look of hatred, loathing
the look that says it all
i remember the good times
that we once had
i look at life now and realize
they haven't happened in awhile
i realize
life went on
even without the good memories
so when I close my eyes at night
and my breathing evens out
i see darkness
