"When in doubt...keep reading. A book will never die on you" -John Van De Ruit (The Guv from "Spud")

I felt solid concentrated care tonight
You masked yours with disapproval
I leaned my head on the windowpane
You watch the fast car go away
Bitter doesn’t even describe
What seeped into my wounds
I
Am
Sick
And it’s past your comprehension
More so attention
More so empathy
Resting at the witching hour
Yet you rise with the sun
I am left behind
Enclosed in pitch black
Moving my eyes rapidly
But the body is still
Paralyzed
We learned that this is called a dream
I feel the state even when I am awake
I’m afraid I’m trapped in a hallucination
You wish I would snap out of it
I’m going to
Snap
Lose my head
To the somber slumber
That victims never wake from
You must learn
Learn to love me
As
A
Sleepwalker

A poem for a caring person who never really understood what was going on, spoken by a person who was living it.
