Reason dies
My earth explodes
Darkness eats darkness

Smoke burns the tongue,
Suffocates hope
I Kiss
the lips of the dying
What will the future bring?

Students fidget
Scribble meaningless words
On scraps of paper

Look to the sky
For the dove of peace
Only a parrot
In sight, plummeting into flames

Nails screech
Heads snap
To attention
Let these candy hearts
shatter

I wrote this in a random flash of inspiration. A couple weeks later I realized it reminded me of Antoinette Rochester as pictured in Wide Sargasso Sea, so I changed a few things.
