Wingless

I want to fly, I want to be free. The thought pushed against my head. I climb to a high place and look out over the edge. I want to fly, I want to be free, but my body cages me, for I have no wings. Instead I turn to my brain, and imagine myself flying away. I want to fly, I want to be free, but my mind cages me, because fear and doubt take over my thoughts, and I’m scared at what could happen to me. So I turn to my heart, and let it fill me up with the desire and love of freedom. I want to fly, I want to be free, but my heart cages me, because my inability to fly and my fear of doing so, I no longer want to fly. So I turn to my soul, and let it do whatever it likes. My soul told me, “You were born to fly, why doubt yourself because you don’t have wings?”
