escape

A hundred hands
surround me and reach out to help.
But when I try to grab one,
to hold on,
I come up empty.
My palms are bare save for the beads of sweat
and jerking tingles
the hopelessness makes me feel.
All I want is a friend,
or a confident,
all I need is a fellow human.
And there are plenty in my life,
some in fact so similar
they seem to be carved out of the very same flesh and bone.
All I need is anyone,
anything.
But I have no one.
I have nothing.
My life is looping in an endless circle
and worst is that there are no corners for me to flee to,
nor sides for me to defend.
I am living in an endless circle
and not for the first time do I wish to
escape.
