My Life, My Love, & Myself

I saw my life as a cake.
I saw myself as the frosting.
I saw my love as the sprinkles.

But someone ate the sprinkles.
Someone licked the frosting.
Someone devoured the cake.

Now there is nothing.
Nothing but the memory of the sprinkles.
Nothing but the licked knife from the frosting.
Nothing but the crumbs from the cake.

Everything once was perfect.
Once, everything was in place.
One time, my life was lovely.
But something happened.

I took the sprinkles for granted.
The frosting began to run down.
The cake became impatient.
Now all is gone.
But the memory,
The licked knife,
And the crumbs.

I want it all like it was before.
I want the cake on the platter.
I want the frosting on the cake.
I want the sprinkles everywhere in the frosting.

But that part of my life is past.
My life, the cake, has been gobbled.
Me, the frosting, has been licked away.
And my love, the sprinkles, has been nibbled off.

An empty plate.
Crumbs.
Licked knife.
Memories.

Me, with no heart, no life, no love.

Don't I know it! Sometimes being sad is when a whole bag of skittles, or caramels, or snickers, would truly hit the spot!
