I Am Poem
I am walking down a path in the hopes of finding something but
I am broken; I lost myself back a ways
No longer the little blue dirt bike
Or the big kid playground curly blonde girl
I am not who I used to be
Training wheels, big white helmet
I am dreamless
I am walking down a path in the hopes of finding something but
I am broken; I am afraid I’ll never find myself again
I used to be concerts at the bandshell after all day boating
Dad’s loud truck and guitar strumming
I am insecure
I am fearful
I am no longer a believer of faith or
The little girl in the sparkly green dress
Off to the nutcracker ballet
I was once deviled eggs
Helping grandma cook
And poppers at Christmas time
I am walking down a path in the hopes of finding something but
I am broken; I do not dream like I used to
I am the girl who can no longer look in a mirror and smile
Too grown up, wrinkles slowly appearing
Stress fading the once soft looking eyes
I am the girl whose reflection shows the scars of many battles
Gravel unpaved, trails for miles,
atv’s and dirtbikes till dark
I am reaching for something; waiting for the grasp
I am slipping
I am walking down a path in the hopes of find something but
I am broken; I am falling
