Breathing in, out. Watching you sleep
so gracefully. Your broad shoulders
drifting up and down so deeply,
as if you were resting on an
endless ocean in the moonlight.
As I observe, my mind gently
caresses each of our memories
shared together. Hand-in-hand walks
through the park, sunset strolls
across the beach. The time when
you and I talked deep into the
black of night until the first rays
of piercing sunlight filtered through
your chestnut hair. Onto your chestnut eyes.
How I shall miss every second of
your comforting company. Your familiar,
bittersweet smell as we cuddle on a
frozen Winter's night. Your kind,
soft face, forever smiling, even still,
as you sleep, my darling.
You lie there now, so helpless,
waiting for Heaven to catch
your soul.

You breathe your final breath.
Your broad shoulders lie still.
My lips connect with your forehead in our final kiss.
My world shatters - I have nobody.
I'm alone.
