Betrayal

I put my trust in you
You promised I could come
To you with almost anything
That you would help
Save me from myself

I was hurt, wasn’t it obvious
You looked away, made me cry
I’ll never feel whole again
I might heal, but never fully
That sliver of my heart missing

I trusted you with my fears
And now they are just pieces
Pieces of my heart
Pieces of paper rotting away
In a dusty old filing cabinet

You probably laughed when I left
Stupid girl, you thought
She still must trust me
I was stupid to ever believe you
I put my trust in you
You promised I could come
To you with almost anything
That you would help
Save me from myself

I was hurt, wasn’t it obvious
You looked away, made me cry
I’ll never feel whole again
I might heal, but never fully
That sliver of my heart missing

I trusted you with my fears
And now they are just pieces
Pieces of my heart
Pieces of paper rotting away
In a dusty old filing cabinet

You probably laughed when I left
Stupid girl, you thought
She still must trust me
I was stupid to ever believe you
You of all people betrayed me

I cried in your office, shivering, alone
You promised answers
You betrayed me
