perfect
“i’m sorry
i’m not perfect,”
i said to myself
helplessly-
but i can be if i want,
and to reach it i’ll
do as you say.
all or nothing, end-all, be-all;
i’ll drive myself to
insanity.
i might be nothing now
and not good enough yet but
i’ll be better, i promise-
more perfect than the moon,
more beautiful than life itself,
more whole than the ocean wide and
i’ll be the best girl who ever lived,
the prettiest,
the skinniest…
perfect.
