The universe was exploding, each particle away from the next, hurtling us into dark and lonely space, eternally tearing us away from each other--child out of the womb, friend away from friend, moving from each other, each through his own pathway toward the goal-box of solitary death

I puff up my bare chest
and flex my naked abdomen
as my pupil darts across
a mirror
so that when I see myself
I might pretend
the lines and depressions are regular
and that I am whole.

The inspiration for this piece came in the fitting room of a clothing store, and I quickly tped out the draft on my phone's notepad.

Ernest Hemingway: I hate it.
Gil: You haven't even read it yet.
Ernest Hemingway: If it's bad, I'll hate it. If it's good, then I'll be envious and hate it even more. You don't want the opinion of another writer.

"Poets utter great and wise things that they themselves can not comprehend."

"Sometimes, we just have to be happy with what people can offer us. Even if it's not what we want, at least it's something. " -Sarah Dessen

I thought this was just going to be a short poem, but you pack so much meaning into your poems!
