Lessons have been taught
Throughout our time together
Not once did I ever want to lift a feather
You know me better than I know myself
I always did things that were not the best for my health
No scolds or punishes ever came to play
You just sat there in silence with no words to say
Knowing I would learn someday
You are as wise as an owl with loads of knowledge under your belt
Cancer infiltrated you body
Experiencing pain I never have felt
Six months to live is all you had
But it never seemed to make you mad
You laughed and loved even more
And would sit by the window and watch the eagles soar
Many years later and still up on your feet
You did not let this be your defeat
You tell me stories without saying a word
Your actions speak louder and that’s what is heard
A fighter you are, you never give up
With a positive attitude and a half full cup
