Breezy

Sun shines down brightly
Butterflies are flitting
Through tall dark grasses
Golden sunflowers sway,

Pull out a compact mirror
Check my appearance
Skin is smooth as it was
Before,

Glance at the time
He’s almost here
Rub my hands along my dress
Twist a curl anxiously,

Look up
There he is
Head is dizzy
Take a breath,

Dishevelled chocolate brown hair
Coffee-colored eyes
Skin glowing like an angel
His lips form a smile,

Nerves leave
Butterflies scurry away
How could I be nervous
When I’m with the one I love.

The author's comments:
I wrote this for my creative writing class. I was sick of winter and was hoping for a nice breezy day, rather than the snow, and I penned this poem.
