Summertime
Strong summer sunshine filters down, reaching
Under the black-green glossy canopy of forest leaves.
Multitudes of creatures leap, disbelieving, into the light, with
Mists of winter still reflected in their eyes.
Empty brown corners are now exploding into green,
Rare, beautiful, and golden-dappled hues.
The streams have shaken free of icy prisons and they flow
Impatiently, as though they have sweet thoughts to send downstream.
Maybe I know the message that the crystal waters bring:
"Everything is green again, come out and dance and sing."
