I’m gaining perfection
That seems to be what you want
Slowly, slowly
I’m gaining perfection

Zits and B’s are just what I get
That’s not good enough for you
I have to be flawless
I’m gaining perfection

Doctors and Ivy League are what you want for me
Do you even ask
Or do you just plan my future?
I’m gaining perfection

You don’t know what I want
I tell you, but you don’t hear
Do you even care?
I’m gaining perfection

Stages and style
Fans and icons
This is what I want
I’m gaining perfection

Hard-rock princess
Bold and bad-***
This is what I want to be
I’m gaining perfection

You don’t care
Do you?
You don’t see what I see
I am gaining perfection

I wrote this to my mom at a time when I was really mad at her for assuming that I wanted to go to the school she wanted me to go to and that I want to be a doctor when I get older.
