They Said
She sleeps unmoving
no longer breathing, not anymore.
Her tiny hands placed gently over her stomach
She isn’t frowning, but she isn’t smiling.
There’s no emotion, no life in her
But then again how could there be?
She lost her emotions a long time ago
Even though her life ended just days ago.
Even surrounded by people that loved her
Wasn’t enough to make her stay.
Nothing was enough to save her life.
Rain falls against the windows.
Tears fall from the eyes of many
Crying echoes through the church.
Her mother weeps on the floor
Her father’s arms encircling her.
They lied
They all said you couldn’t die from a broken heart
But she proved them all wrong.
