The Game of Life
Darkness falls as the Sun retreats, irretrievable
Fathers, sons, brothers, Family
Line up as men of honor
To die as lowly pawns on the checkered board
As the Game continues its cycle
We were given a promise for a promise
Anything we wanted in a perfect world
But we ate the fruit of ambition
With the power to control
Now what has become of the lives
Of the Chosen Ones who had everything?
We push forward to paradise with
Silver blade and silver tongue
King jumping Knight
Knight betraying Queen
Queen using pawn
And the Bishop is never loud enough
They all stand straight
Accepting their fate
Moving forward on the checkered board
Checkmate
