Beneath the Surface

I step in to the water,
waves crashing under my feet.
I can’t see through the murky water,
too dark for me too see.
With every step I wonder,
could there be something below?
Will there be something there to grab me?
Will there be something there to bite me?
I am getting deeper,
the sand is getting softer.
I want to enjoy the ocean,
but I am afraid of what’s below.
