Morning on a Beach
Waves roll in, waves roll out.
Waves roll in, waves roll out.
The sun is not yet high in the sky,
Not baking the ground and burning people.
Its rays set the sky ablaze,
All kinds of blues, and reds, and pinks color the horizon.
The ocean glitters as the light reflects
From the sun to my half closed eyes.
Waves roll in, waves roll out.
Waves roll in, waves roll out.
The water is cold to the touch,
and chills my toes as I wade in.
The sea does not churn and attack,
Rather a calm tide washes my feet
A dolphin leaps in the distance,
Breaking the quiet stillness.
Waves roll in, waves roll out.
Waves roll in, waves roll out.
The sand is soft and cool,
Sticking to my now wet feet.
It does not scald my feet
And make me run across it like a madman.
I walk across it leaving footprints as I go,
Meandering off to nowhere,
Contemplating the rewards the beach offers
To those who come the earliest.
Waves roll in, waves roll out.
Waves roll in, waves roll out.
