By Choice

She walks along
She walks alone
In the cold
In the dark of the night

With her combat boots and fishnets
With her corset and cloak

It's all a choice

Everybody thinks this is a costume
Everyone believes this is all an act

But this is her
Who she was
Who she is
And who she wants to be

All see an image
And look no further
Search no deeper
They are satisfied
With false first impressions
And empty judgments

When she has so much more to offer
So much love to give
But they leave her be
To deal with herself
And the demons they helped her create
And then abandoned her
So she now how to exercise them on her own
And she can't do it by herself
And she knows it
But there's nothing she can do about it

She helps others
Prays for others
Feels for others
But it all unrequited
She longs for just some one to return the favor

She doesn't want to be alone any longer
She doesn't want to feel cold anymore
She just wants someone to recognize
That she is not from Hell
She is by no means an angel

But she needs to know
That she is worthy
She has value
She means something
And without her things would be different
And some one would miss her if she were gone

And that person would be you
She does love you
Really truly honestly madly passionately deeply
She wants needs desires you

It's all a choice

Pining after you
As she walks along
And walks alone
Through the cold
In the dark night
