An unspoken rule of understanding
Covers us
No needed explanation
No words to tell the other
What each breath of friendship means
Her struggles, mine
An identical background
Identical fears
Less scary when we flail
The same way as the other
The sister I never had,
Minus the stealing clothes
Laughter at dumb TV shows
numbs the pain
Of reality
We understand
Hold onto the other’s hurt
Make it soften
Heal it with heaping measures
Of friendship
