Hyperventilate
Choking
Tears
The smell…
The smell of sickness, pain, loss
Thick air,
Breathing, heavy into my shirt
Trying not to smell
Loss of innocence, childhood, everything between
My heart,
Hurt
Young sobs crackling
Nose leaking
Hands working feverishly
Guide me out
Eyes too blurry
Because of the smell
The smell, oh the smell…
Suffocating
Nauseated
On the verge
The edge
The edge of shattering
Pieces too many to put together again
Shaking
Shivering from cold wails of woe
And hands
Where are you hands?
Work faster!
Get me out!
Get me out…..
The deed
Nearly done
Now, to wash away
Wash away the filth
The stains…
And wash away they may
But the smell
Branded in the secret annals of my mind
As a reminder
A bearing, hands can’t help evade…
So deliberately
Methodically
Religiously,
I walk over the edge
Slowly falling
Hands flailing
Freely
Thoughts?
Only one:
Smell
Then bottom
Hit
Smell cease
Choking
Tears
The smell…
The smell of sickness, pain, loss

Trying not to smell
