The Storm

clouds roll in.
i feel the humidity rising,
i feel the harsh breeze against my skin.
thunder rumbles.
i feel it churning in my innards
it runs through my veins searching for an escape.
it reaches my heart & makes it cold.
rain falls.
i feel it all over me
trying to wash away the hurt
trying to penetrate the wall i have crafted
around myself to keep warmth in.
lightning strikes.
and it's too late.
