Love
It’s the butterflies that fill your stomach,
When you see her stroll past.
It’s the bliss that consumes you from the inside,
When you see her look your way.
It’s the nervous stutter that fills your speech,
When you talk face to face.
It’s the feeling that makes you want to sweep her off her feet,
And confess your love.

Love
It’s the anger,
That consumes you when she gets hurt.
It’s the pain,
That consumes you when she is down.
It’s the longing,
That consumes you when she’s not by your side.
It’s the feeling,
That makes you wonder if she’ll ever return your love.

Love
It’s the comfort that fills you,
When you hold her hand.
It’s the passion that consumes you,
When you kiss her on the cheek.
It’s the joy that fills your heart,
When you gaze into her eyes.
It’s the feeling that makes you want to hold her tight,
And confess your love.

Love
It’s the courage,
That makes you stand in her place.
It’s the armor,
That makes you her shining prince.
It’s the selflessness,
That makes you sacrifice everything for her.
It’s the feeling,
That makes her return your love.

The author's comments:
This poem was written when I was in Yosemite, sitting in the lodge at Curry Village. I had originally meant to write about the scenery, but I was thinking about someone I like and, well, this is what came out of it. If you imagine each stanza side by side, instead of one on top of the other, you can see that they connect together, sort of like puzzle pieces. I did this to show that each part of love in each stanza connects together to create the whole that we call love.
