Mommy

Mommy.
Picks me up.
Fixes my boo-boos.
Kisses and hugs me.
My hero.
Mommy.

Mommy.
There for me.
Wipes my tears.
Makes the sadness go away.
My savior.
Mommy.

Mommy.
Supports me in all I do.
Cheers me on.
Sometimes embarrasses me.
My cheerleader.
Mommy.

Mommy.
Tired all the time.
Gets drunk with friends.
A little lazy.
My influence.
Mommy?

Mommy.
Yells a lot.
Blames me for things.
Ignores me sometimes.
A stranger.
Mommy?

Mommy.
She’ll get mad is she reads this.
I can’t say anything to her out loud.
But I have to let it out.
Where did you go?
...Mommy.

The author's comments:
This poem is about my mother, who I love dearly, but sometimes I get a little disappointed in. She is my inspiration, and supports me in pretty much all I do. I wish she would stop drinking though, and get her head out of the clouds.
