No
I am not giving up
...
Was my first day
Five years gone
Walked in smell of rosin fills the air
Timidly I slip on brand new ballet slippers
Soft cotton fabric and silk ribbons hug my feet
Feels like my feet have been away from home for too long
Scared to take a glance away from the worn wooden floor
Every girl there the size of my pinkie
Legs stretching over their heads
Didn't belong
Wanted to quit
Determined to stay
Breathe...
Just Breathe
...
One hour
Two Advil
Three ice packs later
Mother asks
Do you want to quit?
...
No
I'm not giving up.

This piece captures the first moment I stepped back into a dance studio after quitting for five years I was 14 years old. I hope to capture the snapshot thoughts that rushed through my mind in a split second.
