The howl
The cold sky
Their eyes met
They knew what was coming
Imminent
Undeniable
Inescapable
They run
Their feet swift wings
Their hearts rapid
The waves splash their heels
Their mouths open
Water gushing
The darkness
Deafness
Their hands clasp
Eyes wide
Fear constricting
Rushing to the top
Swirling
Gasping
Grasping
Hands held tight
Sound blurred
A watery grave
Rubble floating
Death reeking
They whisper
They live
