Floorboards

creak
Footsteps

squeak

Filtered sunlight through the window

Dusty

books
Curious

looks

Mystery floats high aloft

Hands

quiver
Body

shivers

Step forward, quick and soft.

Masks

leer
Portraits

peer

From frames and hooks on the wall

A door

lies
Amid silent

cries

Of thrilling adventures that call

Out to

me
All I can

see

Is the unknown thing before

That proudly

stands
In reach of my

hands

The strangely secret door

Doorknobs

cold
Stories

untold

Whisper through the hinges

Rusty

metals
Dust

unsettles

The door opens in sunlit fringes

An open

space
A magical

place

Filled with summertime green

I’m reaching

out
Forgetting all

doubt

It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen

Breeze blows

by
I close my

eyes

And suddenly awake.
