The sun sits high, its reflection shimmering off my skin.
I dip my toes in the water and wiggle them
in the sand, as they bury themselves into the
cold
damp
earth.
The foamy waves crash into the shore,
allowing my baked skin to let out a sigh
of relief.
My iPod puts the rest of the world on
mute as it
drowns out the squeals of children and
the songs of seagulls.
The sky is painted a soft blue with little
puffs
of
white,
splattered throughout.
Lying back, the ocean waves crawl up to
my neck,
and then back down to my feet over and over and over.
Wisps of wind morph the white puffs into different characters,
taking me to a world of bliss and
peacefulness.
I breathe. It's 2 p.m.
and I am free.
