Rocks

They are there to stub
Your toe on.
They are out there to get
You. One minute,
You think your safe
And the next, POW,
your toe is burning like fire.

They are there to bother you.
The texture irritating your foot
as you make your way over them.
You exhaust yourself climbing on top of
them. It’s ridiculous that someone
can’t destroy all of the rocks in the world.

They break you, they bend you,
they challenge you,
and they stress you out even more.
The exercise you get from going over
them is painful.

And yet, we can’t destroy these rocks,
So we have to get out our hiking boots,
roll up our pants and climb these rocks
while inuring the pain as best we can.
cause we need to get past them.
in order to move on in life
and make it to the top of the mountain.
