Sportsmanship
The act of showing pride and appreciation
No matter the prediction or outcome of a game
Sportsmanship
The act of confronting your opponent
And wishing him good luck
Sportsmanship
The act of shaking your coach’s hand
At the end of the game
Even if he’s yelling at you the whole game
Just to show you care
Sportsmanship
The act of telling your opponent
Good game
No matter how much pushing and shoving occurs on the court
Sportsmanship
The act of encouraging yourself
After a tough loss
No matter how poorly you played
And
After a victory
Acknowledging your strengths
Without taking advantage
And to do so without boasting
Now that
Is
Sportsmanship

The author's comments:
It was required we include a poem in our memoir. I was inspired to write my poem about sportsmanship because i feel it is one of the most necessary characteristics to have in order to play basketball. In this poem, you will find out what this word means to me.
