A big blue bowl of orange Mac ‘n’ Cheese
Sits guarded by dinosaur chicken nuggets.
Little hands belonging to little giants
Whisk the dinosaurs from their roosts
Dropping them on Zoo-Pal plates.
Glasses cling and clang at one end,
Plastic forks and spoons barely whisper at the other.
One table has smaller words
With many meanings.
While the longer table has big words
Followed by small-minded thoughts.
The ten-minute meal
Seems less far less superior
Than the meal Nanny took all day to make
But taste buds can’t help but water at its sight.
The grown-ups take forever to finish,
So the kids escape flowing lava
By only stepping on blue tiles
And jumping on red couch cushions.
