They met on a cruise
It was love at first sight
They were together all the time
They were the others light
Everyone thought
They would grow old
One day he got on one knee
with diamonds and gold
They said their vows
And went to fly away
But a horrid test result
Got in the lovers way
At home they heard the news

Oh why'd this have to happen
Our life just started out
She said God has a plan
Baby please don’t shout
I already accepted it
We need to move on
He said I'll fix this babe
It was great, it cant be gone
Oh, I will find a way
Just give it one more day

Well the cancer took her away
And he was driving one night
He can't believe she's gone
He couldn't take the fight
Drinking at the bar
Was where he was before
He was there all the time
But he wont be there anymore
He hit another car
And went rolling into the ditch
Oh up in heaven
God could see her flinch
She turned to him and said

I'll do anything
Oh father please
It cant happen this way
I will always blame me
He cant lose his life
Just because it was my time to go
Straighten him up
And put him back out on the road
There has to be a way
He deserves one more day

Well that boy lived
And that girl is smiling from afar
He's thinking about her
And knows there is a star
Watching over him
She's happy he's okay
And will go on with his life
And maybe love another day

Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take... but by the moments that take your breath away.

Thi9s is a great poem, i really like how it ends. (: Good job!
