I Fear the End is Near, My Dear
"The biggest worth I'll ever be is being dead."
That quote will forever remain in my head.
That's what he had said to me one day,
once he saw his future sliding away.
From those words, I fear the end is near;
something I don't want to believe or hear.
He tells me that soon enough the day will come,
and he'll leave without pain feeling comfortably numb.
Now tears stream down my face every night,
when I think of him drifting into the light.
I've heard him say he'd be happier this way,
and that I shouldn't be sad, but glad for him that day.
So once he decides to leave us all,
I know he won't hesitate to answer Death's fatal call.
