A neglected heart can grow alone,
And feel that something wrong was done –
Jealousy can come creeping in
If a wandering hand's not held again.
So with aching soul and stiffened neck,
A neglected heart grows colder yet
And with jutting jaw and fiery tongue,
Try to prove the stronger one.
But strong and cruel are not the same,
And playing tough's a dangerous game.
Neglected hearts begin to find
They walk a thin and lonely line.
The ache for love will slowly fade,
As they lose blood and grow more dead
But a mason's woe and neglected's mistake
Stone won't bend, it only breaks.
