clogged airways
wheezing, gasping
can't get up the stairways
drowning lungs, begging for mercy
why do you hurt me?
cancer, emphysema, heart disease, stroke and many more
can't open the door
breathing threw tubes
attached to a machine
this cant be real
it must be a dream
but who is to blame
that i can't write my name
i used to be able to climb a peek
now i can hardly speak
muscle weakening, shortness of breath
that's just the beginning
it's more addicting than meth
its not only hurting you
its hurting the people you "love"
is this what you want to become of you?

The author's comments:
a lot of my family members smoke and a lot of them developed illness like cancer and i wrote this poem and gave it to my dad for hm to realize how bad smoking is and how much i wanted him to stop
