Why Want More?

Down thirteen steps
Around the corner

So many times it’s numbing
After seventeen years you don’t even have to think
Your body is just
Carried along

Hair’s a mess.
In sweats and socks.

There’s willie and friends
Living
Breathing
Friends.
‡overrated?

Laughing
Goofing
Playing
With a grin I say hi

I get water and stall
Watch a few seconds
Of whatever will farrell movie is on

Silence.

I turn.
Walk back up
Turn the corner to my room
And see them staring on screen;
Paused.
these
I think.
These would be my best friends
and it hits me.
Hard.
I still haven’t decided if it’s cute
Or just
Sad.

But-
Theyre always here
In that box
Waiting
Each time they love each other
Never doubting
Never straying

It doesn’t matter
If there’s
love or hatred
War or peace
Health or decay

Because you press play
And as the colors fade in
The world fades out

They are much more loyal.

They don’t forget about you
Or go to college
They don’t Cheat
Lie
Or steal

They don’t ignore you.
They are always just waiting- Whever you need them.
Whenever I need them.

Never selfish
And always
Give
Give
Giving

People are messy
People are stained
People are flawed.
Well-
most are.
And I like my bubble
I like knowing they’ll always be here

Never scared they’ll forget-
Never worried they’re bored

This is better.
Much better.

Trust me.
It’s better.

Don’t listen to that seed of doubt.
They’re here
Don’t forget
You need them

This will always be waiting.

Why would you want more?

I have consistancy.
I have simplicity.
I have peace.

Its those people-
Those
Living
Breathing
Friends
That makes things scary
And messy
And complicated.

Don’t leave
These people never love you
The way they do
Don’t forget that.

Why would you want more?
Why would you want more?
When you have

…This.
