Great Divide

So much space,
A growing separation that can never be replaced,
It is so bittersweet.
Who is to say I am right, but I know for a fact that you are wrong,
What I wouldn’t give to go back and tell myself that I need to make an effort to get along.
And you are getting frailer by the minute,
Anxiety hangs in the frosty air,
I can no longer tell if its raindrops or tears coating my face.
I need to speak to you,
Please do not look away, just take my hand,
We have already spent 16 years too long wrapped up in this mess.
It is so terrible,
The same pattern year after year that is taking place,
What I wouldn’t give to go back and have this pain between us erased.
I am just going to say it into the wind and hope it travels back to you across the lands,
I love you mom,
Don’t ever forget that.
