Reality
Lips spread graciously over teeth,
Eyes done beautifully,
Sparkling in the light.
She waves,
Everyone waves back
Hoping she will notice,
Surrounded by lovers
But only one is true,
Eyes meet,
Nods exchanged.
She is the light,
Everyone follows.
Keys in ignition,
Music flowing,
Start the car,
Windows down
Golden curls lick the wind,
Home bound,
No one to please,
Her lovers
All gone,
She is free
From reality.
Door swings open,
Sound engulfs her,
Sweet greetings
From all,
Mother fusses over
Tresses,
Father dictates over
Rules,
Brother argues over
Car,
Death march
Up the stairs,
Florence greets
With a purr.
A true greeting,
Reality sinks in.
