So I can replace my soul

Don’t send me back the messages from my soul
Fore I am incompetent and can weep no more
Let me move and awaken the trees
Don’t pretend anymore to be the winds loving breeze
Winter may hold us hauntingly tight
But we will only continue to fight

Please let me go
So, I can replace my soul

Don’t you dare to pretend we still have things to mend
We are too broken for the answers to transcend
Let me now shake the mold from my hand
While you falsely bend to hang your brown head
Spring approaches with a wandering kiss
But we pretend it’s only something we miss

Please let me go
So, I can replace my soul

Only judge what you can understand
My movements are the deep waves against the sand
Let me be the watering can
So, I can proceed to steal water from your dam
Summer proves an intoxicating cad
But it is only what makes us so mad

Please let me go
So, I can replace my soul

You move around this house so alone
While I watch as the leaves begin to groan
Let me fall into the grass so deep
Your feet won’t persist to squash me
Fall leaves us hanging precariously
But we dangle only until we breathe daringly

Please let me go
So, I can replace my soul

This poem reminds me of two people, married, in their adult life wondering what in the world they have done.
