Wishing

A wish on a falling star
The first one in the sky
These things are lucky
Can someone say why?

A lucky leaf
On a lucky clover
These are wished on
By people all over

Eleven : Eleven
An old horseshoe
But who is it
That all the wishes go to?

A little girl’s wish
For a pretty unicorn
Impossible
From imagination they are born

A little older
And that wish is a friend
A boy who’ll be there
And care ‘till the end

Fairytale at first
Dreams in the following
No more belief
No more lies to be swallowing

Cast off your wishes
Throw out the four leaves
After two fails
She no longer believes

Horseshoes become metal
A lying superstition
Fallen stars are meteors
No longer for wishin’

Grown up and faithless
Her daughter she sees
Searching for plants
With four tiny leaves

She remembers her joy
When she found her own
A small pang of sorrow
In the trash it’d been thrown

The first star light
The first star bright
She never got the wish
She’d wished on that night

Eleven : Eleven
Its time for lunch break
She wastes no time
With wishes she used to make

Belief has died within her
In nothing does she believe
She no longer has hope
It has taken its eternal leave
