This was supposed to be a poem
This was supposed to be a poem.
About friends. About moments. About pets.
How I am allergic to my 8 year old cat
but l love dogs
This could have been a confession of my toddler hand stealing
a pack of bubble gum from the store
or not returning a library book in on time
It would have been a poem a out writing poems.
About writers block, about inspiration, about my own AHA! moment
It was about to be a love poem, about the flutters I get when you walk by,
how our conversations sit on my ears like glasses long after you’ve gone.
This was supposed to be a poem.
About friends. About moments. About pets.
it may have been an ode, a thank you, an I’m sorry,
but it was never supposed to be
about
you.
