I Pledge Allegiance
The hot sun beats our backs
Like their whips, like their guns
Our little feet run across their sand, their soil
It’s not your land they yell, we cry
I pledge allegiance to the flag
It was our land I think to myself, it’s everybody’s
Their guns rattle off a few rounds of ammunition
It doesn’t stop us from climbing over their mountainous fence
Of the United States of America
Our pants tear on cold barbed wire
On liberty, on justice for all
Leaving us more broken, less human
And to the Republic for which it stands
Their indivisibility divides us
Cuts us off from the jobs
From the love of our families
From the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
One nation under God
