Cherry blossoms are falling—
Pink-skirted white wraiths.
You are the mask I paint my face with,
The fleeting flutter of the fan.
I brush my lips –
Red of your blood –
I brush my lips –
Red with cherry juice.
Kimono smells of you…
Jasmine scent of sweat and silk,
Wet as dew and sweet as milk.
Anata-o aishiteru…
The snow is here:
White-faced wraiths fade into
Red-faced moon.
