"Fall in love? I'd rather fall in chocolate"

- Me :D

Death
Something she never truly understood
Until her husband let out his last breath
In Iraq doing all he could.

He fell down calling
Calling her name
He wouldn’t stop crawling,
Even through the pain.

He began crying still strong and bold
Crumpling to his feet, thinking he’d failed
Until death took hold,
Pulling him from life, away he sailed.

It was an average day
When she was told
There was nothing she could say
As she watched her tears unfold.

She fell down crying,
On to the ground,
She could see the bullet flying
Hear the hollow sound.

All she did was cry
For days after
Wishing she could die,
Left alone, lost her happily ever after.

Death
Something she never truly understood
Until her husband let out his last breath
In Iraq doing all he could.

She still falls down crying,
On to the ground,
Seeing the bullet firing,
Hearing the sound.

She fell down calling
Calling his name
She wouldn’t stop crawling,
Even through the pain.

This is a poem I wrote in tribute to all of the people who have devoted there lives to America and to the families who have lost loved ones. It's also a tribute to my father, who is deployed right now.
