Meet me by the river
Fall gently into time
Promise me freedom
Inspire me to speak

We'll fly a while kite in the centre of the sky
The water impressions a mirror
Transforming reflections
Shielding regrets
We'll never endure the dark forces of any sea
'Cause here by the river
Is where you'll meet me

The author's comments:
My teacher in Writer's Craft class gave us an envelope with about sixty words, and told us to rearrange them into a poem. We had to use at least 25 words out of the envelope, and up to 20 words of our own, with prepositions unlimited.

A lot of my peers had poems with completely different subjects than mine: since there were a lot of words such as grueling, forceful, dark, transforming, etc many of the finished poems had cynical or aggressive tones.

I felt that my poem was a very romantic one, with a lot of deep purity and innocent love. The way I pictured the poem coming to real life was a couple meeting by a river to lose sight of all that is wrong in the world, and see that everything is right between them. It is, in my opinion, the best piece of work I've ever created.
