My Mother's Hands
a white sheet of paper
her hands blend petals of silk
into the white
pink as the sun on the eastern horizon
red as the polish on my toes
blue as the never ending ocean
yellow as the ribbon beckoning her lover home
and everything besides
when finished
the buds in their silk dresses
and green stilettos
dance with their grass gentlemen
under the everlasting gaze of her eyes
and ever careful stroke of her hands
