Surprise
Surprise!
I have played plays for many to see
Not of the stage and lights of which you may think
I’ve been living a lie for other’s delight
When I don’t smile it becomes a sight
On the outside I am very happy and free
But on the inside, I want to yell and scream
I try to show my actual self
Without being classified as someone else
I’ve tried to fit in with the “popular crowd”
“It’s dumb, it’s stupid!” I want to cry out
But today is the day!
Yes! Yes it is the day! Where I have something to say!
Surprise!
Its time for you to see me!
Not the other girl who I don’t want to see
Surprise!
I have given up on you
Ha! Imbecile, believing things that aren’t true
Surprise!
You have been fooled
As some of the “popular” boys say, you have been schooled.
I look at the crowd and take a bow
I’m done, I’m finished! Look at me now!
Surprise!
