I’ve always been a fighter
I’ve held my head up high
My heart was guarded by impenetrable steel
Won’t let anyone see me cry
I’ve always been a fighter
I’ve gotten through it all
But once a heart is broken,
It’s never the same as before the fall
I’ve always been a fighter
And you used to be my king
I’d guard you with my life
No matter what the tide would bring
I’ve always been a fighter
But erosion withered away
Something far from innocent
I thought I’d never see the day
I’ve always been a fighter
But you’ve got the best of me
And now I can’t distinguish
Exactly what I need to be
I’ve always been a fighter
But you’ve proved to me
I can’t fight a losing battle
Of something that’s just not meant to be
I’ve always been a fighter
But I’ve seen a dark side of the moon
And gradually come to realize
We’re slow dancing in a burning room
I’ve always been a fighter
But I’m putting down this sword
And taking off this armor
I can’t do this anymore
