Ever Lasting Love
In love they once were then everything had changed.
A man sent crimson roses one each day.
She thought his love would last eternally.
Until he conveyed her a dozen more,
Of the ruby roses he sent before.
Overwhelming, the flowers became,
Tables and counters stacked high with vases.
She could not sleep knowing he was out there,
Waiting for the sun to rise to give her another.
Soon she moved to hide from his crushing love.
For now she was free of the flowers she used to adore.
Then once morning she awoke to find a petal on her bed.
She looked outside to find her garden strewn,
With the deadly roses she once tired to escape.
